The Pacific division leaders Los Angeles Lakers continue to dominate their opponents even on the road. Wednesday night the team faced the Detroit Pistons winning 103-90. The Lakers current record after twelve games is 10-2 with losses coming this past week to Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets.
Other teams in the Western conference are creeping up to compete with the champs like the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets both teams are 9-1.
While still completely dominating most of their opponents the Lakers are missing a piece of the puzzle to complete the Championship run they grown accustom too.
A Laker big man is vastly need in the middle. Previously held by Theo Ratliff this season. He recently underwent a Menisectomy (meniscus surgery). He had been complaining of soreness in the knee prior during the practice before the Phoenix game and was unable to practice after making back to back attempts on the court.
A Menisectomy is surgery done to repair a torn meniscus or general terms torn cartilage in the knee. Ratliff most likely will not return for another 6-8 weeks. In the mean time their starting Center Andrew Bynum the guy Ratliff originally replace is still recovering from his injury.
Bynum was placed on the injured reserve at the start of the season. Bynum most likely will not return till mid December early January. He had knee surgery several months ago before the start of the season.
Bynum express to the LA Times “ I hope to return to practice shortly.”
With this happening does this mean a guy like veteran Eric Damper can go to the Lakers. The Champions most likely will go with Pau Gasol in the middle till the return of Bynum. Having Bynum and Ratliff for the second half of the season will make the Lakers an even more powerful force come playoff time.
